Summertime at Fresh City Life at DPL

Are you a crafter? Noir film buff? Aspiring writer? More importantly, do you enjoy hula-hooping? These are just some of the oh-so-fun events lined up this month at Fresh City Life at the Denver Public Library’s Central Library. Fulcrum is teaming up with them in the coming months for some fun, inspiring, and wacky events built around some of our titles and authors, and we absolutely LOVE this program at DPL! (Not to mention Chris, the director). Many, many of these events are free (or require a small materials fee), are inside in the AC on those sweltering Colorado summer days, and filled with fun, hip people from your city. Amazing.

Check out some of their upcoming events this month and maybe we’ll see you at the “Grey Gardens Etsy Crafting Party” on Friday, June 10, from 1-8 pm!

Yay! Hula-hooooping! The “Hoop-Dee-Doo Workshop” on Saturday, June 25, from 1:30 -4 PM, at the Central Library. This is a two-part event (includes a $10 materials fee) including creating your own hoop (!!!!!) and learning how to use your hoop for not just fun, but exercise, with hoop enthusiast Amy Schaefer. Sold.

And… one close to our book-loving hearts: “Behind the Cover: Tour Denver Bookbinding and Build Your Own Book Workshop” on Wednesday, June 15, from 10 am- Noon. This is a tour I’ve actually taken a few years ago (in association with a summer publishing program) and it will blow your mind! Denver Bookbinding Company, Denver’s oldest and most bookbinding house, is offering a unique look inside their shop and includes making your own hardcover, single-signature book to take home. Registration required (and includes a $15 materials fee).

Finally, have you seen Grey Gardens? I know, we’re in love with that movie, too. Join fellow movie lovers and Etsy crafters at the Grey Gardens Etsy Crafting Party 2011. Friday, June 10, from 1-8 pm at the Central Library. Clips of Grey Gardens, The Beales of Grey Gardens and the Drew Barrymore redux will be shown!  Registration encouraged here.

We hope to see you at one of these great events this summer!
